What each material does over time, how to hang and place a piece, and how to move it. Mirror and crystal want dusting, not cleaning products; copper is meant to darken.
- Glass and acrylic mirror
- Dust the mirrors with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a soft brush. Where a mark stays, use a cloth barely damped with water and wipe along the surface, never pressed into the joins. Ammonia glass cleaners, sprays and solvents can creep behind a mirror or into an adhesive line, so keep them away from the work. The large convex mirrors on some pieces are acrylic, which scratches more easily than glass: no paper towels, scourers or dusty rags.
- Rhinestones and crystal prisms
- The rhinestone lattices and the crystal prisms on the tips are set by hand. Dust them with a soft brush rather than a cloth, which can catch an edge, and lift a piece by its frame, never by a tip or a prism. If a stone comes loose, keep it and write to the studio with a photograph.
- Copper
- The wire frames of Metatron’s Cube and IcosaSphyr, the copper-wire geometry inside the mirrored pieces and the tube and plate of the Golden Rectangle altar darken as copper oxidizes. A dry polishing cloth brings bare copper back; a copper polish is for bare copper only, never on a piece where it can reach a mirror or an adhesive line.
- Gilding and quartz
- The 24k gilding on the Lemurian Quartz Crystal AllSphyr is a thin surface layer that handling wears away, so it is dusted with a soft brush and not wiped. The quartz points are natural crystal and can chip: set the piece down gently and keep it where it will not be knocked.
- Indoors and outdoors
- The catalog describes Metatron Reflections for indoor or outdoor placement and the MirrorSphyr for poolside and oceanfront settings; Galactic Reflections is best under cover, and the other structures are described for interiors, so ask before placing one outside. Outdoors, take hanging pieces down before strong wind, which can swing them into a branch or a wall, and wipe salt spray off with a cloth damped in fresh water, then dry.
- Hanging and placing
- Hang a piece from a fixing rated well above its weight, on a beam, a ceiling joist or a hook made for it, and leave room for it to turn without touching a wall, a light or a branch. A ceiling fixing over a walkway is work for a qualified installer. The catalog does not list weights or hardware, so the studio confirms both for a piece in writing. Set freestanding and tabletop pieces on a level surface out of a walkway.
- Moving and storing
- Keep the packing a piece arrived in. Carry it by its frame or base, two people for anything you cannot hold away from your body, and wrap it in soft cloth before boxing; never tape onto a mirror. Larger work travels crated, and its transport and installation are quoted with the piece.
