Care, sizing and FAQ

Living with the work.

Pendant diameters, what each piece is worn on, how copper, silver and gold plate age, and the answers to the questions the studio is asked before an order.

Sizing

Diameters are the artist’s own, as the catalog entry for each piece states them. A piece whose measurement the studio has not recorded is not listed here; ask and it is confirmed in writing before production.

Care

What each material does over time, and what to keep away from it. Copper and silver are meant to change; plating is a surface and wears.

Copper
Copper darkens as it is worn: the surface oxidises to a deeper brown and settles into the openings of the geometry first. A dry polishing cloth brings the highlights back, and a copper polish returns the piece to its new colour. Skin chemistry, perfume, chlorine and salt water all speed the change, so a copper piece is best taken off before swimming and stored dry.
Sterling silver
Sterling silver tarnishes in air, most visibly in the recesses between the rings. A silver polishing cloth is enough for regular care; a dip or paste can lift tarnish out of the openwork, but is best kept away from any set stone. Store the piece in a closed bag or box with the air pressed out.
14k and 18k gold-plated brass
Plating is a surface, not a solid metal, and it wears where the piece rubs — a chain channel, an edge that catches a collar. Abrasive polishes, ultrasonic cleaners and cloths made for solid metal take plating off, so a plated sphere is cleaned with a soft dry cloth only, and put on after scent and lotion rather than before.
Set gemstones
The trillion-cut stones in the GemSphyrs are held in the ring geometry itself. Rinse with cool water and dry with a soft cloth; avoid heat, steam, ultrasonic cleaners and household cleaning products, which can loosen a setting or mark a softer stone.
Mirrored and crystal sculpture
The mirrored structures and the quartz pieces are cleaned with a dry microfibre cloth, or one barely damped with water, wiped along the surface rather than pressed into the joins. Ammonia glass cleaners, sprays and solvents can creep behind a mirror facet or into an adhesive line and are best kept away from the work entirely.

Questions

How long does a piece take to make?

Jewelry is made to order, usually three to four weeks after payment clears, and transit is additional. A sculpture made on demand carries its schedule into the written acceptance, and a finished piece already in the studio ships once payment clears. Every product page states the lead time for that piece.

Shipping and delivery

What does shipping cost?

Shipping is included to the listed countries. Nothing is added at checkout and no shipping invoice follows. Stripe Checkout collects a ship-to address in 20 countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Japan. An address anywhere else, and anything too large to travel as a parcel, is quoted in writing before payment.

Shipping and delivery

Is sales tax included in the price?

Listed prices exclude sales tax. Sales tax, where applicable, is calculated at checkout. Where work is quoted in writing, any applicable tax is stated in the quote. Duties and import taxes outside the United States are the recipient’s unless a written quote says otherwise.

Terms of use and sale

Does a pendant come with a chain?

Where the artist’s catalog records a chain or necklace, the sizing table above says so and gives its length. Where it does not, the chain and its length are confirmed in writing before production, so nothing is assumed either way.

Can I order a metal that has no price?

Yes. Solid 14k, 18k, platinum and white gold are made to order after a conversation: the studio confirms specification, final price, timing and shipping in writing, and production begins after payment. No figure is listed for those metals until the studio sets one.

Send an inquiry

Can a piece be made in another size, metal or stone?

A variation in scale, material, finish or stone is a custom order. Scope, price, production estimate and delivery are agreed in writing first, and custom catalog work requires payment in full before production begins.

Custom order policy

Can I return a piece?

Made-to-order jewelry, personalised work and sculpture produced on demand are final sale once production begins, except where the piece is damaged, defective, materially different from what was accepted, or where the law provides otherwise. A ready-stock sculpture can be authorised for return within 14 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging.

Returns and refunds

How is a piece packed, and can it be sent as a gift?

Every piece is packed for transport and a tracking email follows when the parcel ships. The studio has not published gift wrapping or a gift note as a service; if you want one, say so in an inquiry before paying and the studio will answer in writing.

Can I rent a piece for an event?

Yes, through the artist practice. Rentals are quoted as a complete window — transport, load-in, the event, strike and return — and need a signed rental agreement and confirmed insurance.
